National Honor Society volunteers helped serve and clean up at the Alumni Dinner the weekend of Sept. 9 and 10. The National Honor Society, a nationally recognized club, is an organization that focuses on four traits: scholarship, service, character, and leadership. National Honor Society is a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and 10 hours of community service to apply to be in National Honor Society in the fall. For the first time in NBHS history, incoming sophomores have been invited to join NHS and lend their strengths to the organization. All summer volunteer hours (for applying and returning members) are due by the October meeting, which is Tuesday, October 10. Required hours include the Alumni Dinner (Sept. 9/10) or the Hall of Fame Induction Dinner (October 6-Homecoming) AND four hours of peer to peer tutoring throughout

the year. The Class of 2018 and 19 are required to have a total of 35 volunteer hours plus four tutoring hours. The Class of 2020 is required to have 50 hours plus four tutoring hours by April of 2020. Please contact

Ms. Stover-Lange with inquiries at: [email protected].

The victims of the recent hurricanes and earthquake will be using some of the blood donated by students and staff on Wednesday, September 13. The goal was met despite 10 deferrals, Adviser Ms. Stover-Lange said.

The National Honor Society's next blood drive is Tuesday, November 14. If you are 16, you will need a parent permission form. If a student is 17, 18 or 19, there is no form.

"Thank you to those who donated or attempted to do so. Your donations will make a difference to at least 132 lives," Stover-Lange said.
