NBES explore!

Good readers are made in classrooms, living rooms, under blankets with a flashlight, long car rides, mornings during breakfast, just about any place...any time! We also know this can be a frustrating time for some students. No matter where your child is on their journey to becoming a top-notch reader we are here to support you! At NBES we are frequently assessing each student and monitoring their progress. There are many, many resources available for helping develop your young reader. Let us help you through the clutter and confusion of picking the right resources for your child!

Here is an idea you and your child might find helpful in developing reading techniques, it's call "sticky note reading." Sticky note reading helps readers develop what is called "active reading strategies." This process helps monitor comprehension, activate prior knowledge (thinking about the topic you're reading about), making connections, visualizing, questioning, making inferences, determining importance, and more!
