Channel NBC 25 News Reports: Baker College holds drone workshop for girls interested in STEM.
In an effort to get more young women involved in STEM fields, there's a drone workshop being held a Baker College locations across the state. Cyber defense students at Baker College in Flint invited 30 girls to come test their skills in the field. The girls had a chance to build, program and fly their very own drone designs, but they had to learn how to avoid being hacked throughout the process. "it's always good to get young girls interested in STEM subjects early, they can pursue that interest as they go to high school, so it's an amazing experience for someone who is twelve to be able to do this type of thing," said Dr. Anca Sala, Dean of School Engineering. Every April, Baker brings in young girls to do these types of programs and encourage more of them to pursue STEM careers.
