A Message from the Superintendent

Welcome to our second issue of the NB Broncos Academics e-Magazine. In our first issue, I wrote about the financial health of our district, and how the Board of Education continues to be fiscally responsible and prioritize expenditures to have the most impact on our students. I am very appreciative that our community continues to support our school district. On November 8, you renewed the existing millage and restored it to 18 mills. This millage will generate over one million dollars in revenue for the district in the 2017 tax year. Our community expects an excellent school system, and we are committed to delivering the best possible education for all students. Thank you very much for your confidence and continued support.

We are committed to sharing information and keeping everyone informed about what is going on in the schools. Please check out the front page of our website (www.nbbroncos.net) and you will find a number of new ways we are interacting with the community. You will find five new social media tools that are updated on a daily basis: facebook, Twitter, Instagram, NB Broncos Academics e-Magazine, and NB Broncos Athletics e-Magazine. You will see numerous pictures and read many articles about the great things going on in our district.

As I am writing this piece for the Academic e-Magazine, I am also preparing for our board meeting. The School Board meets the second and fourth Monday of every month at 7 p.m. I invite our community to attend the meetings held in the Jefferson Educational Services Center which is really the old elementary library. You will see the excellence that is North Branch Area Schools. At our last meeting the Ruth Fox Choir opened the board meeting with a rendition of "God Bless America" which they perfromed for veterans on Wednesday, November 23. Our Ruth Fox staff and students do an amazing job each year of recognizing our veterans for their service to our country and this year was no exception.

You will see Isabelle (Belle) Bucholtz, who won a position in the trumpet section of The Michigan School Band and Orchestra's All-State Middle School Band, perform for our board. Congratulations Isabelle! You will see high school drama students perform a scene from "The Little Mermaid." They performed three fantastic shows for our community last month. You will witness our high school student's talk about their experience with the STEM Academy, and how it is preparing them for college.

We have so many positive things going on in our district, and I invite you to partner with us as we work hard to give our students opportunities both now and in the future. Our last day of school before the holiday break is Tuesday, December 20 and classes resume on Wednesday, January 4. Please contact me at 810-688-3570 if you have any questions regarding North Branch Area Schools. On behalf of the entire North Branch School District, we hope you are able to spend some quality time with your family over the holiday and 2017 is a year filled with hope and happiness!
