49th Annual America & Me Essay Contest
This year at North Branch Middle School, our 8th graders were invited to enter the 49th annual America & Me Essay Contest sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance. Students were encouraged to write about their personal Michigan heroes, especially the people who have made a big difference in their personal lives.
At a pizza luncheon, sponsored by agent Steve Ellis of Farm Bureau Insurance in Marlette, the winners were announced as follows: Honorable Mention - Ashlyn Sylvester, 4th Place - Hollyn Laur, 3rd Place - Emma Senko, and 2nd. Place - Maisa Cummings. The honor of 1st Place went to Madison Reffey! All winners received certificates and monetary prizes. Madison’s name will be engraved on our school plaque that is permanently on display in our showcase, and her 1st place essay will now advance to the state level competition from which the top ten essays will be selected.
Good luck to Madison, and sincere thanks to all of our 8th graders who took the time to write about these amazing people in their lives!
Thank you Steve Ellis of Farm Bureau Insurance in Marlette!
