ACTIVITY: LABOR SCENARIOS

Purpose
5 – 10 minutes Unit 1: Stages of Labor
To reinforce the understanding of the stages of labor, labor coping techniques and labor challenges / variations using role play. Encourages brainstorming, collaboration and discussion.
Print the following pages on card stock with the scenarios Preparation on the front and answers on the back, cut out and laminate.
Preview
Divide the class into small groups and hand each group Procedure 2-3 cards to discuss. Encourage each person to share one idea for each scenario.
Alternative Methods
Read and discuss a scenario to introduce or wrap up / reinforce a topic. For example, read the“ Pushing Progress” card after discussing second stage labor or read the“ Induction Decision” card before you discuss induction methods or informed decision-making.
