An overview of this topic provides an opportunity to highlight and review important health considerations, as well as encouraging parents to make healthy choices regardless of their current stage of pregnancy.

Key Points
• Caring for yourself:
• To do: regular prenatal care, nutrition, hydration, exercise, sleep / rest, control stress / support mental health.
• Precautions: avoid harmful substances( alcohol, drugs, unsafe medicine, unsafe foods), limit caffeine and sweets, protect yourself from infections, toxins, and risk of injury.
• Pregnancy dates: lasts approximately 40 weeks from the date of the last menstrual period. Divided into three parts, called trimesters, each lasting 12 – 14 weeks.
