It isn’t easy to talk about death. Most people with cancer, feel better
when they do. Ask your healthcare team to describe different outcomes
and options. Take time to think about what you want if your cancer
continues to worsen even with treatment. It’s a good idea to talk about
options with family and close friends and your health-care team if your
cancer continues. It’s important for people with a serious illness, to find
and ask someone to be a health-care agent, or “proxy.” If you can’t
speak for yourself, this person has the legal responsibility to explain
your wishes about health care. Your doctor, hospital, or a lawyer can
help you find a health proxy.
