Monsoons are the perfect time to romance- as I say romance in the rain. Recently released Ashiqui 2 has a campaign image of a couple engrossed standing in a busy street on a monsoon day and that been a hit. In fact it reflects the emotions of many young people behind the screen who are in their ordinary life. For people separated from loved ones monsoon rains serve as igniters to their pain. I have read hundreds of poems by Tagore and other Indian poets narrating the pain of separation in love catalyzed by the monsoons. It is only during the monsoons that we come very close to the Nature. We enjoy the season in spite of all the disadvantages. We Indians are fortunate that geographically we have such a season that makes us realize our emotions and we exhibit it in our poetry, music, film, dress, festivals, lifestyle, and culture and in all aspects of social life. , Uttiya Sarkar HOD, English, Bengal College of Engineering and Technology 9
