Say what you will about cruise theme nights, Scarlet Night is different. Virgin Voyages’ ship-wide ritual manages to feel less like a performance and more like an organized outbreak of joy. Think immersive theater crashed a disco, then invited the entire ship to improvise. It is loud, theatrical and surprisingly tender. There aren’ t many vacation moments that inspire strangers to high-five other strangers, but this is one of them.
