The Legend of Lee Brown

Lee Brown is a wound-care nurse, mother of four, and the funniest woman I know. She also happens to be my mom. My mom was able to put a three week cross-country trip together for my family of six in the matter of less than a

year, consisting of visiting many national parks, all while going to work four days a

week and raising four kids. In these next few questions, you will see what her experience consisted of.

How did you feel at the start of the planning process?

When I was at the first stages of planning the three week trip, I was super excited. I was also very hopeful. I wanted to enjoy and experience these new things with my family.

How long did it take you to plan the trip?

It took me about six months to fully plan the trip. It was worth it to me though. I wanted to

take this trip because every awesome family does. Everyone that I’ve spoken to that has taken this trip had an amazing time.

What was your state of mind during the trip?

During parts of the three week journey I was afraid, afraid of not being able to protect my family from the dangers that some of the national parks held.

Which parts of the trip stuck out in your mind?

Something about the trip I will never forget about the trip is driving to Yosemite, through the desert of Death Valley. It was scary, being surrounded by an oasis of desert, no civilization in site.

What was your favorite national park? Why?
