My Kingdom

Poem By: Stephen kazanovicz

Ever since I was a young eyas this was my sanctuary

I did as I wish, and had no reason to be wary

My presence speaks volume before I say a word

I feared nothing and no one, for I am a predatory bird.

The time has come where this ruling has come to an end,

There is no more territory for me to defend.

As I fly above my former sanctuary high

I see my friends, family and food scurry by

The heat radiating upwards is intense

The flames in my home have grown immense

The humans did this with their foolish ways

They set fire to the Forrest in a not so glorious blaze

Up the coast I must migrate

Hoping my natural instinct brings me to a better fate.
