Sustaining Mini

Farm?

I found myself already planning a bio-intensive gardening experience for myself when reading Dawn Gifford’s article, “How Much Land Do You Really Need to be Self-sufficient”, published by Small Footprint Family in 2017. Gifford restored my faith in self-sustaining homesteads. To me, it makes no sense why we wouldn’t want to do this for our self’s and our families anyway. Growing such an abundance of food that could support your entire family and then some, as well as having the confidence to know exactly where your food came from because YOU grew it. Ultimately, having a garden based on self-sufficient designing methods, could only mean good for you. This article excites a passion in me for a sustainable lifestyle that revolves around Permaculture. Permaculture: A way designing an environmental system to be self-sustaining on its own; “permanent”, “agriculture”. This type of high functioning system has always fascinated me, but never thought I could start a garden without the land space. Educating people about self-sufficient ways of living, helps shape our world and future generations into creative and critical thinkers who put sustainability as their highest priority.
