It is important to securely stake and tie coir logs into place when installing . An example of materials is rot-resistant wooden stakes , placed at about 1ft increments along the coir log , and coir twine . SCDNR recommends embedding stakes further into the sediment until the coir twine that is placed on top is pressed tightly into the top surface of the logs in order to reduce potential vertical movement of the log . Likewise , they recommend that additional stakes should be installed inward in an A-frame configuration overlapping each other near the top surface of the coir log to assist with vertical and downslope movement . Additional installments of logs can be placed waterward over time to continue accretion of marsh sediments following successful installments .
