Figure 16 is an illustrated design of an enhanced bioswale based on general engineered designs provided by Charleston County ’ s Stormwater Practices and Procedures Manual ( 2017 ) as guidance for their construction . Figure 17 and Figure 18 are longitudinal and general cross sections of the bioswale , respectively , and indicate a 2 foot . minimum depth of permeable soils ( sandy loam ). Additionally , this drawing includes a 6-inch gravel layer with a 4-inch diameter perforated PVC pipe underneath the permeable soil that is separated by permeable geotextile fabric . Figure 19 provides an example of a model cross section of a bioswale design .
