From this curated master list of 400 species , the KLWG created a subset of approximately 200 of the more commonly known and commercially available plants to be included in the database ’ s first release . Numerous attributes for each plant
included :
••
Latin and common names
••
Culture ( light and water preference )
••
Flowering duration and color
••
Size ( at maturity )
••
Wildlife value
••
Salt tolerance
••
Deer resistance
••
Soil pH preference .
The database is designed with you in mind . You can search and filter by any one of these attributes to yield a list that is most relevant to you . Whether you are a property owner , landscape architect / designer , horticulturist , retailer , grower , or developer , this database can serve your needs . It ’ s designed to be dynamic ; it will evolve as we gather more information about plant performance , as new cultivars ( variants of straight species ) are bred , and as we research more natives in the master list .
