Carolina or live here, a reference to
“Birds of Prey” conjures an image
of raptors performing stunts—
swooping from a perch to grab a tiny piece of food
from a trainer’s hand. Specialists bring a variety of
these birds to special events all over the state, and
hundreds of people travel to Awendaw to watch and
photograph these fantastic performers. But if your
vision of the organization stops with these images,
you are missing the best parts of the story. To
understand, you have to begin at the beginning.
