In the Next Issue
A
s we developed the
stories that fill this
issue about WONDER
on Kiawah Island, we
repeatedly came back to the center of all
that is Kiawah—nature in all its forms.
The wildlife. The habitats. The
marshes. The beaches. The
water. The forest. The dunes.
Nature with its many
splendored gifts is central to
the world we know and love. The
dream shared by Kiawah residents
and visitors alike is that this place
will be the same for our children and
their children. It is to the challenge of
making sure that happens that we will
turn in the next issue. Our theme is
“Keeping Kiawah Natural.”
Doing this takes a village and so
much more. Our town, our community
association, Kiawah’s developers,
both past and present, and thousands
of individuals have joined forces to
preserve and enhance this small part
of the planet.
We will talk about actions taken
and planned, as well as initiatives to
preserve Kiawah’s habitats—how they
were started and how they are being
sustained. We will investigate the part
that Island entities like the Town of
Kiawah Island, the Kiawah Island
Golf Resort, and the Kiawah Island
Community Association as well as
developers across the decades have
played in conservation efforts. We
will celebrate with you many of the
individuals whose efforts have resulted
in changing the way we live and how we
are learning to coexist with the creatures
with whom we share our space.
Join us in the fall when we come
together as a community of dream
keepers to Keep Kiawah Natural! NK
