Habitat Management at Manomet. He
is a highly regarded speaker and an
accomplished photographer as well.
Felicia Sanders is a wildlife
biologist with the South
Carolina Department of Natural
Resources. She has a B.S. in
Zoology from Duke University
and an M.S. in Biology from
Clemson University. She joined
the South Carolina Department
of Natural Resources in 2001
and leads South Carolina’s
Shorebird and Seabird Projects.
Lawrence Niles, Ph.D.,
contributed the article about
stewardship for our shorebirds
on pages 14-19. He conducts
research through his own
company, Niles Associates,
with funding from many
federal and state wildlife
agencies and in partnership
with many groups focused on
wildlife conservation.
Aaron Given is a very familiar face on Kiawah Island.
He is literally up with the birds to perform his job as
a wildlife biologist for the Town of Kiawah Island but
somehow finds time to take people on bird walks,
conduct presentation to educate residents and visitors,
run one of the most respected banding operations
on the East coast, conduct a bluebird evaluation each
year, and write for us.
Jean Woods, PhD, is the Director of Collections and Curator
of Birds at the Delaware Museum of Natural History in
Wilmington, Delaware. Currently she and her colleagues
have been working on an exceptional video presentation
featuring the multitude of birds that stop along the Delaware
Bay each spring and the horseshoe crabs on whose eggs they
feed titled: Feast on the Beach: The Delaware Bay Horseshoe
Crab Shorebird Connection. She has been involved with the
Delaware Shorebird Project for over 15 years.
