This Is The Kiawah Conservancy
A
ll of us—full-time residents, part-time
residents, and visitors—constitute a community
united in our belief that Kiawah Island is a
special place. The unique natural beauty of the
place inspired us to visit. We keep returning and often make
it our home because of the wildlife that fills our days with
moments of awe, the beach that brings us peace and renewal
of spirit, the habitats that surround us with beauty. We are
united, all of us, in our mission to preserve and maintain this
Island for ourselves and for the generations who will follow us.
Here are some examples of what we are accomplishing. NK

Preserved Property
Little Rabbit Lane is the site of one of the Conservancy’s
newest preserved properties. This donation brings our total to
over 350 acres of property under protection.
Research and Education
Over 180 people registered to
attend our annual symposium
in November, 2015. The topic
was 40 Years of Protecting
Loggerhead Turtles. Plans to
conduct a similar event about
alligators on October 27, 2016,
are already well underway.

Demonstration Garden
In addition to being a living laboratory on
gardening with native plants and promoting
a healthy understory, the garden provided a
perfect setting for our Piano Bar in the Park
series this summer and fall conducted in
partnership with the Town of Kiawah Island.
