ast year Kiawah Island was the vacation spot
of choice for a monarch from a small country.
Really. As he was driving (or being driven)
along the Parkway, he saw a female deer
killed by a car. Near the deer were two newborn fawns.
The prince was concerned and savvy enough to contact
naturalists from the Heron Park Nature Center.
Thus began the rescue of these tiny animals. Happily
for them, they eventually ended being taken care of by
one of the many volunteers involved with Keeper of the
Wild, Inc. At present this organization is extremely active,
finding, transporting, and caring for all types of wild
mammals who need assistance, and those involved do all
of their nurturing without the benefit of a freestanding
