44 No. Model Egret While riding our bikes along Governor’s drive, we saw a snowy egret fishing in Canvasback Pond. I went over to the wooden dock to take pictures of the egret pulling fish out of the water, when it flew over to the dock and landed on the railing (apparently unphased by my presence). Shocked to see the bird so close to me, I stood still for about half an hour as the egret walked along the railing to the other side, jumped in the water to have a quick bite to eat and then hopped back up onto the railing as if it were posing for the camera. It was amazing to see! - Brian Beaty 45 Number Lift-off at Sunrise Egrets are signature icons on Kiawah Island that are both graceful and beautiful. - Chad Slater # 46 Great Blue The great blue heron is our favorite bird on the Island. We often stop to watch them as they sit perfectly still, waiting to grab an unsuspecting fish swimming by. - Brian Beaty
