Situated at the north of St. Petersburg city centre,
the apartment hotel and housing complex “House
by the Sea” consists of twelve individual buildings
arranged in an S-shaped frame. The complex exhibits
two different spaces each with its own character. The
promenade, a tree-lined avenue, with fountains as an
extension of the Grebny Canal axis, forms the centre
piece of the complex; the other space is a secluded,
quiet recreation zone with pedestrian paths and
green spaces. Situated at the end of the Promenade,
a fitness and wellness centre is available to the
residents.
The facade solutions of the complex are a blend of
modern style and historical features of St. Petersburg.
Stone used as the main finishing material in the
project realized with the Evgeny Gerasimov and
Partners. Architectural characteristics of French,
Italian and Mediterranean region like venetian blinds,
window shutters are rendered in decorative elements
in stone on the planes between windows. Light and
shadow contrast created by sharp horizontal flutes
adds a unique interpretation of the artistic image of
the facades.
