privacy. The seaside location and contemporary lifestyle of the clients were
important features of the project.
The key idea of the synthesis is the distinct organization of clean lines and
volumes with reference to the common area of the swimming pool. All spaces
are oriented towards the garden and to the future park that will be created in
front of the house. The structure consists of two main volumes: the two story
volume that includes the common areas and a single story volume connected
to it, distinguished from each other in their usage of material and color. The
home has an almost “T” shaped plan scheme with the common areas and
living spaces occupying the ground floor while the master bedroom and a
small office connected with the living space are located on the upper floor. In
addition there is also a basement floor in the larger main volume.
These two masses differing from each other in material usage and elevation
nonetheless are related with each other through the connecting swimming
pool and a common area with wooden floor and seating units. Stone paths
and the green lines of the exterior garden frame this common area. One of
the most prominent features of the project is the variety of colors, textures
and sensory elements in the common area: blue and the feeling of coolness
from the pool, warmth from the wood flooring, grey and hardness from the
stone pavement and finally the green landscape as part of Mediterranean
modern architecture. Furthermore, this material and sensual specificity is
carried through into the design character of the two major elements of the
house. The white and transparent surfaces of the main volume and the
smaller black and solid volume provide contrasts yet successfully coexist
together in the overall design.

Yapı, Yunanistan Makedonyası’ndaki ufak ölçekli bir
kent olan Katerini’nin banliyösünde 800 metrekarelik
bir arazi üzerinde yer alıyor. Mimari geometri ve
kütle öğelerinin saf halleriyle kullanıldığı tasarım
için proje sahipleri, iç ve dış mekan arasındaki
sınırların tasarımda zorlanmasını, iç içe geçmesini,
bu gerçekleşirken de bir konut yapısı için en önemli
kavramlardan biri olan mahremiyetin sağlanmasını
istemişler.
Konutun ortak alanındaki yüzme havuzu referans
alınarak oluşturulan net çizgiler ve hacimler bu
karmaşık organizasyonu yaratan ana noktaları
oluşturuyor. Tüm mekanlar bahçeye ve konutun
önünde ileride yer alacak olan park alanına doğru
yönlendirilmiş. Yapı iki ana kütleden oluşuyor. İki
katlı, ortak alanları içerisinde barındıran ana birim ve
ona bağlanan ancak aynı zamanda malzeme ve renk
kullanımıyla farklılaşan tek katlı diğer kütle. Yaklaşık
olarak bir “T” plan organizyonuna sahip konutta,
ortak alanlar zemin katta yer alırken, üst katta
ebeveyn yatak odası ve yaşam alanına bağlı, küçük
bir ofis birimi bulunuyor. Bunun dışında ana birimde
bir bodrum katı da yer alıyor. Bir arada görülen
