odernizm, diğer alanlarda da olduğu
gibi, şüphesiz mimarlık için de 20.
yüzyıla damgasını vuran en önemli
akımlarından biri. Her ne kadar
modernizm eleştirileri ve tartışmaları
çeşitli çevrelerde hala yoğun bir şekilde sürse de,
modernist mimarlık anlayışıyla inşa edilmiş ve kalıcı
olmayı başarmış yapı tipolojilerinden birinin konut
olduğunu söylemek yanlış olmayacaktır. 20. yüzyılın
başında tasarım alanında çığır açmış esnek plan
şemaları, bezemeden kurtulmuş yalın formlar ve
fonksiyonellik vurgusu, aynı zamanda günümüzün
konut mimarisi öğeleri arasında da yer alıyor. Akis
Bogdanos yürütücülüğünde, arkteam tarafından
hayata geçirilen Katerini’deki konut projesi de
işte bu anlayışla ele alınan, yalın hacimlerin
kompozisyonuna bir örnek teşkil ediyor.
1991 senesinde kurulan ve portfolyosunda
oldukça çeşitli projeleri barındıran arkteam,
modernist bir mimarın tasarladığı binanın tüm
detaylarıyla ilgilenmesi gibi, tasarımlarında fikirden
uygulama aşamasının sonuna dek tüm detayların
düşünülmesiyle birlikte gelen bütüncül bir tasarım
anlayışıyla çalışıyor. 2009 senesinde inşaatı
tamamlanan Katerini’deki konut tasarımları da

ithout a doubt, modernism was an important design movement
that marked 20th century architecture as well as other visual
fields. Although the criticism of modernist architecture continues
today in various circles, it is fair to say that modernist residential
architecture managed to become a lasting approach for
contemporary design. The groundbreaking flexible plan schemes, forms without
ornamentation and emphasis on functionality emerged at the beginning of the
20th century to change the way people lived. These resilient notions are still
with us today in the design of contemporary residential architecture around
the world. These design principals can be seen in a recently completed single
family house in Katerini, Greece, designed in a modernist style by Greek practice
arkteam under the supervision of Akis Bogdanos in an exam ple of contemporary
residential architecture using the spare forms of modernism.
Established in 1991 with an extensive completed portfolio of diverse works,
Thessaloniki, Greece architects arkteam work with a holistic design approach
from concept phase to the end of construction, designing buildings with
an attention to specific details. arkteam’s residential project for Katerini,
completed in 2009, with its choice of materials in detail and overall
composition, is characteristic of their work to achieve modernist purity in
space and materials for a distinctive residential setting.
The house is located on a plot of 800 sqm in the outskirts of the small central
Macedonian city of Katerini located near the North Aegean Sea south of
Thessaloniki. For the project with its design based on its pure architectural
geometry and mass composition, the owners’ brief was to create a living space
