yüzeyler otelin tasarım kimliğinin çağdaş zevkine ters
düşmeden doğal bir karakter ortaya koyuyor. Otelin
tasarımında yüzey malzemelerin yaygın kullanımına
paralel olarak burada taşın temiz geometrilerinden
yararlanılıyor.
İç mekan tasarımında dikkatli malzeme seçimi ile
özgün alanlar yaratma stratejisi The Met Hotel’in
212 odasında da görülebiliyor. Misafir odalarında
kullanılan cam, lake ve ahşap malzeme hafif ve
çağdaş bir atmosferde konfor sağlıyor. Banyolarda
odaların genel stilini destekleyecek şekilde mermer
kullanılıyor.
Doğal yüzey tercihleri, avangard sanat ve mobilyaların
kullanılmasıyla ayrıntıya verilen önem, The Met
Hotel’in tasarım stratejisini tanımlayan zarif tonlar ve
temiz hatlarda ortaya çıkıyor. Tasarımındaki avangard
ve estetik kaygı oteli Selanik’in bir çağdaş kültür kenti
olma yönündeki hedefinin önemli bir parçası haline
getiriyor.

48 NATURA • TEMMUZ-AĞUSTOS 2011 / JULY-AUGUST 2011
The most dominant architectural feature of the Met is the
glazed atrium between the restaurants. This hybrid exterior
and interior space is the prime focus of the ground floor
allowing natural daylight to reach the interior. At the same
time it creates an urban area as an extension of the hard
paves surfaces of the surrounding city. This environmental
presence is the perfect balance between the strict modern
language of the stone and wood interior and the naturalearth like quality of the landscaped exterior.
The natural feeling can also be in the Spa where there is an
extensive use of Macedonian marble. These stone surfaces
in marble are arranged to provide natural character but
in the overall contemporary taste of the Hotel’s design
identity. The clean geometries of stone are part of the
Hotel’s extensive use of material surfaces in its design. The
212 rooms that make up the Met Hotel also are part of this
same strategy to produce unique spaces through the choice
of material in the interior design. Glass, lacquer and wood
are the primary elements applied in the guest rooms to
provide comfort in a light contemporary atmosphere. The
use of marble in the bathrooms participates to the general
stylishness of the rooms. The importance given to detail
through the choice of natural surfaces, avant-garde art
and furniture to produce the elegant tones and clean-cut
design defines the design strategy of the Met Hotel. A sense
of avant-garde and aesthetic purpose in its design makes
it an important part of Thessaloniki’s aim to be a place of
contemporary culture.
