El Ouhlani’nin en ünlü işi Fas mimarisinin soyut formları ve arıların kovanlarından ilham alan modüler kütüphane sistemi ‘La Ruche’. Lake ahşaptan meydana gelen sistem İslami desenleri hatırlatan delikli bir tasarıma sahip. Mostapha El Ouhlani is a young 29 year old designer, working in France and deeply inspired by his family’s Moroccan roots. His approach to design is very personal and his main goal is to create connections between crafts and design, between traditions and modernity. His approach relies on the production process and all the knowledge required to merge design styles through technique. His most well known piece is a modular bookcase system inspired by shelter structures built by bees and abstract traditional forms of vernacular Moroccan architecture. This piece of furniture is made of lacquered wood and presents perforated patterns that are drawn from geometric patterns of the Arab and Islamic culture in North Africa. The modular cases overleap each other and their disposition can be easily changed allowing for constant adaptability and transformation. 26 NATURA • TEMMUZ-AĞUSTOS / JULY-AUGUST 20011
