TAŞLAR HEM ÇELIK PUTRELLER, HEM DE L ÇIVILER ILE CEPHEDEKI ÇELIK IZGARA SISTEME MONTE EDILIYOR. STEEL BRACKETS AND LONG BENT NAILS ARE USED TO FIX STONE TO THE STEEL SUBSTRUCTURE ON THE FAÇADE. The Sarvin project, a 12 story building with almost 3000 m2 built area, half of which is dedicated to shops and offices and the other half to parking area, squarely falls in the urban and architectural conditions of Tehran today. The primary task of the designers was to satisfy the quantitative requirements of the client, giving him the maximum saleable space in the floors. Consequently, the architectural concept was focused on the façades, as a point from which the forms move inside to create the interiors and upwards to shape the roof garden. Due to these parameters the double skin façade has several functions: framing the panoramic views towards the mountains, providing space for the flowers and plants and controlling the afternoon sunlight. The materials used in the façade have also symbolic meanings. The inner skin in wood represents the warmth of the life inside the building; the outer stone envelope, shaped with the same care of a tailor’s pattern, creates a very subtle relation with the surrounding kitsch pseudoclassical style building since both use light beige travertine as the main finishing material.
