Les Contemplations

Commentary : Victor Hugo is one of the most famous writers in French litterature. He wrote many novels such as Les Misérables. He was also a politician. This poem was written for his daughter Léopoldine who died tragically, in 1843: she drowned herself during a cruise after her wedding... In this poem, he describes the landscape and his feelings threw the journey he will make to carry a bunch of flowers on her tomb situated in Normandie. This poem is beautiful and sad in the same time and makes her revive forever.
