YEO Bios SHARI WILLIAMS Registrar of Voters Hartford, Connecticut Shari M. Williams is a 28 year old resident of Hartford, Connecticut. She currently serves as a registrar of voters in the city of Hartford. Her passion in life is bringing awareness to people on important subject matters like voters’ rights, racial injustice, global warming, and tuition cost. For over 10 years Williams has worked in the education and human services field. She has worked with people all ages, backgrounds, and some disabilities. She enjoys writing music, painting, and dancing. Her motto is, “Art is Life.” FAITH WINTER State Representative Westminster, Colorado Over the last decade Faith Winter has empowered thousands of people to become civically involved and participate in democracy through her leadership in Emerge Colorado, the White House Project, and VoteRunLead, which all work to encourage women to run for political office. Winter was elected to the Colorado legislature to represent District 35 after seven years on the Westminster City Council, where she led on renewable energy, championed small business support, and improved services for survivors of domestic violence. During the 2015 legislative session, Winter sponsored a key component of the Colorado Ready to Work jobs package. She also sponsored the FAMLI act, which would have given all workers paid family leave. Winter’s priorities for the 2016 session are standing up for hard-working families, working to ensure people get equal pay for equal work, and setting measurable goals for Colorado’s climate action plan. CORY WOLBACH City Council Palo Alto, California Cory Wolbach was elected to the Palo Alto City Council in November 2014 as an unabashed progressive, focused locally on housing affordability, income inequality, transportation, and climate sustainability and adaptation. Nationally, Wolbach sees civic education, developing a culture of intellectual honesty, and systemic electoral reform (including proportional representation) as keys to improving American politics. Wolbach’s long-term concerns include existential threats to human life and liberty like nuclear war, surveillance technology, and artificial intelligence. Wolbach earned his associates degree from Santa Monica Community College and his B.A. in political science and international relations from the University of California San Diego. As an intern with People For the American Way in 2010, he worked on the early stages of the ongoing efforts to overturn Citizens United v. FEC. Wolbach has been active in local clubs for his party since college. Outside of politics, Wolbach’s hobbies include trail running, motorcycling, and martial arts. 78 YEO BIOS
