LACEY MERICA School Board Member
Omaha, Nebraska
Lacey Merica was elected in May 2013 to represent Subdistrict 8 on the Omaha Public
Schools (OPS) Board of Education. OPS is the largest school district in the state of Nebraska,
educating around 46,000 students. She serves on the Finance, Operational Services, and Claims
Committee, and is one of the OPS representatives on the Nebraska Association of School Boards
Board of Directors. She earned her B.S. in biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and
an MBA from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. @SouthOLacey
JONATHAN L. MILLER City Councilman
Prairie View, Texas
Councilman Jonathan L. Miller was born in Pittsburg, California, and migrated to Prairie View,
Texas, in 2010. He, his brother, and his father, George H. Miller, are alumni of Prairie View
A&M University. Councilman Miller is especially excited to serve as the youngest member of the
Prairie View City Council. He hopes to make significant improvements in Prairie View, to focus
on sustainability where possible, while improving the city’s fiscal standing.
ALFONSO MORALES School Board Member
Lynwood, California
Board Member Alfonso Morales Jr. is the son of immigrants. Following his high school
graduation he attended Claremont McKenna College, where he received a degree in literature
with a legal sequence. He then attended the University of San Diego School of Law. Morales
returned to Lynwood in 2004 following his legal education and entered the legal field as a
medical malpractice defense attorney. He changed fields in 2006 when he began to work for
an immigration specialist. In March 2008, he opened the Law Offices of Alfonso Morales in
Lynwood, where he practices immigration law. He was elected as a school board member in 2005

STEPHANIE MORALES Commonwealth’s Attorney
Portsmouth, Virginia
On February 10, 2015, Stephanie Morales was the first woman to be elected Commonwealth’s
Attorney for the City of Portsmouth and is the chief law enforcement officer for her city. She has
been featured in the Winter 2016 edition of Norfolk State University’s Behold Magazine, honored
by the Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. with the “Audacity
of Hope Award,” by the Epsilon Nu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. with
the “Hugo A. Owens, Sr. Humanitarian Award” and by the MS. JD Organization’s Woman
of Inspiration Award nationally since taking office last year. She has established the Stephanie
N. Morales Future Leaders Initiative where her office has hosted over 60 youth as Junior
Commonwealth’s Attorneys over the past year. She also formed the Ctrl + Alt + Del Program to
help restore felon rights and reduce recidivism.
