Jane Kim is the first Korean American supervisor in the country , representing a diverse district encompassing the majority of new construction in San Francisco . She represents the highest and lowest income residents , and her priorities include preserving and building more affordable housing , funding public schools and parks , and addressing homelessness . Kim ’ s landmark initiatives include The Fair Chance Act , a $ 15 minimum wage ballot measure , homeless shelter reform , and a housing balance plan . Kim is the former president of the San Francisco Board of Education and civil rights attorney whose practice at the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights focused on combatting new Jim Crow voting laws in California . Kim directed the youth empowerment program at the Chinatown Community Development Center , an affordable housing developer . She was listed in 7x7 Magazine ’ s Hot 20 under 40 lists in 2010 . Cleophus King is serving in his second term on the Bessemer City Council where he serves as President Pro-Tem . King is the youngest person to be elected to the . King is a product of the Bessemer City Schools System and is currently enrolled in the University of Phoenix , where he is majoring in business management . He is a licensed funeral director and is the CEO of a small business , King Enterprise , LLC . His community involvement includes serving as a member of Bessemer Citizens for Change , National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials , the NAACP , Brothers in Christ , and 100 Black Men . King is also president of the Bessemer Public Library Board of Trustees .

Laura Kleiner is an alumna of Mary Baldwin College , where she earned a degree in political science and dual minors in peacemaking conflict resolution and studio art . At age 21 , Kleiner ran for the Virginia House of Delegates , was the field director of a congressional campaign at 23 , and was elected to the Staunton City School Board at 24 . She currently serves as the Social Services Advisory Board Chair for Staunton , Augusta , and Waynesboro . She is a news anchor and an artist , and serves on committees including the Daughters of the American Revolution , the Western State Psychiatric Hospital Council , the Allen Chapel AME Church Gospel Choir , and the 6th Congressional District committee . She was previously the co-director of YDA Faith and Values initiative .
