Adam Carranza serves as the clerk to the Mountain View Board of Education , which serves a predominately Latino student population . Carranza has advocated for stronger parent participation programs that equip parents to be engaged in the education of their children . He is a supporter of sustained professional development for teachers working with English learners , and has overseen a dramatic rise in California English Language Development Test scores district-wide . Carranza oversaw a Green Schools Initiative designed to increase cost efficiency and environmentally friendly practices in the Mount View District . He is involved in the El Monte Coalition of Latino Professionals , a local advocacy group that attempts to pay for the first two years of a student ’ s tuition at partnering colleges . Since its inception in 2009 , the Adonai Center has become a leading expert in male development that has supported the positive growth and advancement of over 850 young men . Additionally , Carter serves as an elected member of the Pittsburgh Public School Board . In this capacity , he is charged with ensuring a fiscally responsible and academically enriching education system for over 25,000 students . His candidacy received numerous endorsements from elected officials , media , and key stakeholders including the Allegheny County party Committee , Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers , and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette . Carter maintains a deep commitment to community and civic causes and actively participates as a board member for the Northside Coalition for Fair Housing , Pittsburgh Community Services , and the Women and Girls Foundation .

State Representative Evandro C . Carvalho is an American attorney and politician serving in the Massachusetts House of Representatives since 2014 . As Assistant District Attorney prosecuting gun crimes , Carvalho saw the cycles of poverty and violence that put young men and women into the system . He served on the board of Teen Empowerment and volunteered for the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance . He and his wife , Ashley , own a home in Fields Corner . Carvalho won a 5-person primary on April 1st with almost 50 percent of the votes . He went on to win the general election unopposed . On May 14th , 2014 , he was sworn in as the State Representative for the Fifth Suffolk District .
