SEAN GARBALLEY State Representative
Arlington , Massachusetts
Sean Garballey is a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives , representing the 23rd Middlesex district . He was elected in a special election in March 2008 , after the incumbent won a 2007 special election for a seat in the Massachusetts state Senate . Representative Garballey earned his B . A . in political science from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell , and attended Suffolk University . He has been a member of the Arlington town committee for his party and serves on the Health Care Financing , Municipalities and Regional Government , and Ways and Means Committees .
LEROY GARCIA State Senator
Pueblo , Colorado
Leroy Garcia was elected in 2014 to represent state Senate District 3 , which covers the Cities of Pueblo , Pueblo West , and part of the community in Salt Creek . From 2001 to 2007 , Sen . Garcia served in the Marine Corps . When Garcia took office as a representative in 2013 , he resigned from the Pueblo City Council , where he took the lead in passing a property maintenance code and a host of capital improvements , including a new police building , two fire stations , and a renovation of City Hall , all while balancing the city budget without any furloughs . In the 2013 session he had a leading role in the campaign to repurpose Fort Lyon , a shuttered correctional facility near Las Animas , into a full-service transitional housing facility for Colorado ’ s homeless , who include many veterans .

As a newly elected council member , Garrett has implemented Ward One Community Conversations , an initiative to connect and empower residents in working together to improve neighborhoods . Garrett ’ s aim is to increase civic engagement and encourage constituents to get involved in the legislative process to ensure that their voices are being heard . Garrett is the CEO and managing partner of Admintrinsic , which provides administrative and community support consulting . She received a bachelor ’ s in psychology and a graduate certificate in gerontology from the University of Pittsburgh , as well as a master ’ s in counseling psychology from Chatham University . Garrett was selected as a Jonas Salk Fellow , has been named one of the New Pittsburgh ’ s Courier “ Fab 40 Under 40 ,” and received the Rising African American Leaders Award .
