YEO Bios Rebecca Saltzman Board Director Oakland, California Board Director Rebecca Saltzman was elected to the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) District Board in November 2012. She chairs the Labor Negotiations Review Committee and serves on the Environmental/ Sustainability Committee, Wayside Safety Committee, and the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority Board. Prior to her election, Saltzman spent years as a public transit and policy advocate, coalition builder, grassroots organizer, and manager of local, state, and national issue-based organizations. In addition to her service on the transit board, Saltzman works as the government affairs manager for the California League of Conservation Voters. Saltzman served as vice chair of the Oakland bicycle and pedestrian advisory committee from 2011 to 2013, where she advised the city on pedestrian, bicycle, and infrastructure policy. She graduated with a B.A. in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. Beatriz Sanchez City Councilmember Coachella, California City Council Member Beatriz “Betty” Sanchez was first elected to the city council of the City of Coachella in 2014. Sanchez previously served as city treasurer. Sean Scanlon State Representative Guilford, Connecticut YEO National Convening | 2015 Sean Scanlon was elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives on November 4, 2014, and is currently serving his first term. The son of a police officer and small business owner, Scanlon attended public schools and graduated from Boston College. Prior to his election to the state legislature, he served for six years on the staff of Congressman and nowSenator Chris Murphy and is currently the director of community affairs in the Senator’s Hartford office. Scanlon was president of his state political party’s youth coalition from 2011-2013 and is currently the co-chair of the bipartisan Connecticut Young Legislators Caucus. @seanscanlonct 90
