YEO Bios
Jane Kim
Board of Supervisors
San Francisco, California
Jane Kim is the first Korean American supervisor in the country,
representing a diverse district encompassing the majority of new
construction in San Francisco. She represents the highest and lowest
income residents, and her priorities i nclude preserving and building more
affordable housing, funding public schools and parks, and addressing
homelessness. Kim’s landmark initiatives include The Fair Chance Act,
$15 minimum wage ballot measure, homeless shelter reform, and a housing balance plan. Kim is the
former president of the San Francisco Board of Education and civil rights attorney whose practice
at the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights focused on combatting new Jim Crow voting laws in
California. Kim directed the youth empowerment program at the Chinatown Community Development
Center, an affordable housing developer. She was listed in 7x7 Magazine’s Hot 20 under 40 lists in
2010. Kim received her B.A. in political science and Asian American studies from Stanford University
and her J.D. from the U.C. Berkeley School of Law. @supejanekim
Laura Kleiner
School Board Member
Staunton, Virginia
Laura Kleiner is an alumna of Mary Baldwin College with a degree in
political science and dual minors in peacemaking conflict resolution and
studio art. At age 21, Laura ran for the Virginia House of Delegates, was
the field director of a congressional campaign at 23, and was elected to
the Staunton City School Board at 24. She currently serves as the Social
Services Advisory Board Chair for Staunton, Augusta, and Waynesboro.
She is a news anchor and an artist, serving many leadership and membership roles on various
committees, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, Western State Psychiatric Hospital
Council, Allen Chapel AME Church Gospel Choir, and 6th Congressional District committee. She was
the previous co-director for YDA Faith and Values initiative. She graduated from University of Virginia’s
Sorensen Political Leadership Candidate Training and is starting school at Washington and Lee

Christopher Kloeppel
Board of Education Member
Savoy, Illinois
Chris Kloeppel is a board of education member for the Champaign
Community Unit 4 School District. At just 32, Kloeppel is the youngest
such member in recent memory. Kloeppel and his wife Tiffany live with
daughters Madison and Molly in Savoy.
