YEO Bios Wendell Mosby Community College Trustee Chicago Heights, Illinois In 2011, Wendell Mosby was the youngest person ever to be elected to the board of trustees at the Prairie State College. As one of seven trustees, he is responsible for hiring presidents and overseeing a $50 million budget. Mosby serves as second vice president of the African American Community College Trustees Association. He holds a bachelor’s in apparel production management from the Iowa State University. He is the founder of Just WIMP and lead facilitator for A Dream Achieved. As an empowerment speaker, Mosby conducts workshops and presentations about leadership, bullying, and entrepreneurship. Mosby is the Illinois state director for the Young Elected Officials (YEO) Network and national chair for the Young & Powerful Political Action Committee (YPPAC). @friendofwendell Jeremy Moss State Representative Southfield, Michigan State Representative Jeremy Moss is a lifelong Southfield resident in Michigan’s 35th House District. He is a graduate of the public school system and attended Michigan State University, where he graduated with honors in journalism and political science. In November 2011, Moss was elected to the Southfield City Council, becoming the youngest elected official in Southfield’s history. While in college, Moss studied race relations in South Africa and was a part of a pioneer group of students who established a children’s center to assist at-risk children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Moss worked in the offices of Mayor Brenda Lawrence and former State Representative Paul Condino and as the district director for State Representative Rudy Hobbs. Moss was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2014. @JeremyAllenMoss Shayla J. Nealy City Councilwoman Union City, Georgia YEO National Convening | 2015 79 Shayla J. Nealy is a councilmember in Union City, Georgia, and a water resources engineer with Clayton County Water Authority. She has held a variety of leadership roles within professional and community service organizations. She was named as one of Georgia’s best and brightest in the 2011 class of Georgia Trend’s “Top 40 Under 40,” as a 2012 New Leaders Council (NLC) Institute Fellow, and as a Jewell Jackson McCabe Emerging Leader. In her spare time Nealy enjoys nonprofit outreach, mentoring, and dance. Nealy has a bachelor’s degree in biological systems engineering from Florida A&M University and a master’s of public administration from Central Michigan University.
