Nancy Bui-Thompson was elected to the Sacramento Municipal Utility
District Board of Directors in November of 2008. She is a technology
and management professional who has worked with state and local
government agencies as well as energy and health-care organizations. BuiThompson currently is a board member on the Sacramento regional human
rights/fair housing commission, and sits on the national advisory board for the New Leaders
Council. Additionally, she is the founder of Bear HUGS (Hope You Give Someone), which has
provided her opportunities to speak to children about child abuse. In 2011, Bui-Thompson
was awarded one of the “40 under 40” honors from the Sacramento Business Journal. She is a
graduate of California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, with a BS in economics

Dwight Bullard
State Senator
Miami, Florida
Dwight M. Bullard was elected into office as State Senator of Florida in
November of 2012. He has been a teacher at Coral Reef Senior High
School in Miami, Florida since 2000. He currently serves as vice chair of
agriculture, and serves on numerous committees such as the appropriations
subcommittee on education, general government, and environmental
preservation and conservation. He was a recipient of the Florida Education Association’s Freshman
Friend of Public Education Award, and the Florida Association of School Administrators’ Next
Generation Leader Award. He is also a member of the South Dade Democrats, The Prince Hall
Masons Johnny L. King Lodge #767, and the Richmond-Perrine Alumni Chapter of the Kappa

Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Angie Buhl O’Donnell represents Sioux Falls in the South Dakota State
Senate. In 2010, Buhl O’Donnell made history by becoming the youngest
woman ever elected to the South Dakota State Senate. In her first term
in the legislature, as part of a 5-30 minority, she fought for a variety of
social justice issues, including women’s rights, LGBT rights, workers’ rights,
immigrants’ rights, and a fair and open redistricting process. Senator Buhl O’Donnell currently
works as executive director of a youth advocacy organization and has consulted with a variety of
nonprofits, including pro-choice organizations. Buhl O’Donnell is a 4th-generation South Dakota
native and has been active in the progressive movement for five years. @angiebuhl
