FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2014 19 William Eisenstein Clare Fox Los Angeles Food Policy Council Clare Fox is director of policy and innovation for the Los Angeles Food Policy Council (LAFPC), an independent nonprofit created by the city of Los Angeles to advance food systems policy. She collaborates with the public and private sectors to catalyze projects and build capacity for a sustainable and equitable food system. Fox focuses on access and equity, urban agriculture, street food vending, and food-anchored economic development. She organizes leadership development trainings and provides oneon-one consulting for neighborhood markets in low-income communities across Los Angeles. Previously, Fox worked with the UCLA Labor Center, the Los Angeles Community Garden Council, and Green for All. Additionally, Fox taught radio production to young people throughout Los Angeles and the US for Youth Radio and National Public Radio. Fox has a bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College and a master’s degree in urban planning from UCLA. Nikki Silvestri Green For All Nikki Silvestri is the executive director of Green For All, an organization working to build a more inclusive, healthy, and sustainable economy. Prior to joining Green For All, she served as executive director of People’s Grocery in Oakland where she led efforts to cultivate economic and environmental justice within the food sector. She holds a master’s degree in African American studies from UCLA and is originally from Los Angeles. Stay connected: Keep the #YEOmentum going with @YEONetwork DETAILED AGENDA Center for Resource Efficient Communities at University of California, Berkeley Dr. William Eisenstein is the executive director of the Center for Resource Efficient Communities (CREC) at UC Berkeley, a research center focusing on urban sustainability, climate change, water efficiency, energy efficiency, and land use. He serves as the urban systems and institutions leader for the National Science Foundation’s engineering research center on ReInventing the Nation’s Urban Water Infrastructure (ReNUWIt), and serves on the California Air Resources board’s research screening committee reviewing diverse research pertaining to California’s landmark greenhouse gas regulations and sustainable communities. Dr. Eisenstein has also served as a consultant to the state of California’s Delta Vision process, the Delta Conservancy, the Delta Protection Commission, and the Central Valley Flood Protection Plan. He has also worked with Urban Ecology, Greenbelt Alliance, the Tri-Valley Business Council, and others on urban sustainability issues in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
