People For the American Way Foundation founder Norman Lear will engage in a discussion of
the changing political and cultural landscape in America over the years, and how it continues to
be shaped by media, art, and an investment in youth leadership.

Founder, People For the American Way Foundation
Norman Lear, founder of People For the American Way Foundation,
has had a distinguished career as a producer, director, comedy writer,
screenwriter, political and social activist, and philanthropist. Known to
the American public as the creator of Archie Bunker and All in the Family,
Lear’s numerous television credits include Sanford & Son, Maude, Good
Times, The Jeffersons, Fernwood 2Nite and Palmerstown U.S.A. His motion
picture credits include Fried Green Tomatoes, Stand By Me, The Princess Bride,
Divorce American Style, and Cold Turkey. Lear has received many honors for his pioneering
creative works, including the National Medal of Arts in 1999. He was among the first television
pioneers inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame, and has received four Emmy
Awards and a Peabody
