Friday, June 3 Time Session Location 11:30am - 12:45pm Media in the 21st Century: Springwood 1 New Media and the “All of the Above” Strategy Social media is all the rage, but an overwhelming number of voters continue to absorb most of their political information via local TV news. With only so many hours in a day, where do you put your time and resources? This session will show you how your constituents are consuming political information, and help you implement an “all of the above” strategy -- the only way to wage a successful long-term media campaign. Discussion will include the use of social media, traditional media and “all of the above” strategies, as well as how to revamp and redesign your press outreach to earn better media coverage and exposure. You will also dissect new media efforts to analyze media markets. Last but not least, YEOs will review new media disasters and how to avoid becoming an infamous internet sensation. Kevin Cate Kevin Cate Communications Kevin Cate, recently named one of Florida’s rising political stars by the News Service of Florida, runs Kevin Cate Communications, a political consulting and public relations firm in Florida. His press experience includes serving as a regional communications director for the Obama for America campaign, and managing press for three state agencies, two congressional candidates, one statewide elected official, and one statewide candidate. Cate is an Emmy®, Silver Anvil®, Telly® and Addy® award winner, and currently serves as an adjunct professor at Florida State University, where he teaches earned media. 11:30am - 12:45pm The Next Level: Fundraising for Higher Office Sagamore Hill So you’ve raised money before, but are you ready to take it to the next level? Adam Goers Friends of Martin O’Malley Adam has worked on top-tier campaigns at every level of government and across every region of the country. He currently serves as the National Finance Director for Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley as well as a senior advisor to the Democratic Governors Association. As a principal at Demo Strategies, Goers continues to help top state and federal campaigns organize their fundraising operations, while also serving as a political director to top national donors and helping them formulate their public engagement. Before starti ng Demo Strategies, Adam served as the Midwest Finance Director on Hillary Clinton’s campaign for president. Before joining the Clinton campaign, Mr. Goers served on a number of state & federal races including: Congressman Bruce Braley, Governor Tim Kaine, Senator Tom Harkin & EMILY’s List.
