Annual Financial Statements
REPORT OF THE ACCOUNTING AUTHORITY
The accumulated surplus at the end of the 2010/2011 financial year was R4 622 699. The
surplus is attributed to:
•
•
•
•
The submission relating to the increase of Tribunal member fees, for which approval is
awaited;
The planned relocation of the Tribunal, which has not yet taken place;
The unfilled vacancies at the Tribunal;
A focus on cost management, yielding cost savings in operating and administrative areas.
In addition, the majority of the cases received relate to consent order applications and it
was decided to allocate approximately eight consent order matters to one member at a
time. These matters are adjudicated in chambers, leading to substantial cost savings.
Overall, the Tribunal has fulfilled its mandate and has used its funding efficiently and
diligently.
