Governance (continued)
undertaken by the Tribunal during the year under review, and risk-based internal audit plans were
then developed, approved by the committee and implemented. Key strategic and operational
risks that were highlighted in the risk register were continuously monitored, discussed in the
EXCO and committee meetings as part of the Risk Management Strategy. We are satisfi ed that
these risks were managed to an acceptable level. The Tribunal’s Risk Management Strategy also
includes the Fraud Prevention Policy and Plan, and the Fraud Hotline.
Internal audit
The committee is satisfi ed that the internal audit function is operating effectively, and that it
has addressed the risks pertinent to the Tribunal in its audits. Signifi cantly, internal audit has
contributed to the improvement of internal controls at the Tribunal.
Corporate governance
The committee is not aware of any issues of non-compliance with corporate governance. In our
view, the Tribunal continues to strive towards complying with the sound principles of corporate
governance.
