The love of education and knowledge was prevalent in the classical period , inspiring the rest of the world from there on to seek the truth . Many of the greatest philosophers and educators of the time ( Aristotle , Plato , Socrates , Hypatia , Lao Tze , Confucius , etc ) truly demonstrated what it meant to be a philosopher and “ lover of wisdom .” Their vast influence has continued to trickle into our current education system with many schools using their ideas to this day . Ancient advancements in science , technology , math , literature , and music ( to name a few ) have created the basis for which modern education and curriculum stand on .
