KTI Hydraulics Inc . was founded in 1998 by renowned hydraulic designer and inventor , Robert W . Habermann and serial entrepreneur , George King . The success of the company is owed to the vision these two pioneers by improving hydraulic systems , superior quality , unrivaled customer service and ontime deliveries .
Fast forward 25 years and KTI is the premier supplier of hydraulic systems to light / medium duty segment of the trailer industry . We asked John King , VP what he thought led to their success and what sets KTI apart from others . He told us , “ In the early 2000s something began to change in the light to medium duty trailer category . KTI began receiving requests for assistance customizing consumer grade trash hauling trailers into what would ultimately be called ‘ dump trailers ’. It started off with just a couple of requests , but it just kept growing and the trailers were getting bigger . We understood the potential for such a trailer , so we worked closely with the dump trailer manufacturers and developed a system that could be integrated into their design . As predicted , once manufacturers began to realize the possibilities for a ‘ dump ’ trailer , they adjusted their designs to include hydraulics and the category absolutely exploded , KTI was there to answer the call .”
King tells us what really sets KTI apart is their patented design 12-volt DC power pack this system .
Here are a few bullet points on the advantages of the patented KTI 115 circuit , that allows for power up , power down or gravity down .
The unit will not overflow due to low battery and the motor not being operated at the correct RPM . The unit will force hydraulic regeneration back to the rod end of the cylinder during this condition , preventing tank overflow . The unit can be operated with the choice for power down or gravity down . The benefits of gravity down are roughly 30 % more dump cycles per battery charge when gravity down is used . This is done most effectively by utilizing the threebutton pendant with the gravity down button placed conveniently on the controls for the operator to select . The unit can also be upgraded to include a manual override in the event there is no battery available to power down or the user has a preference to add this backup . The manual override valve is not needed with the three-button , except in the case of complete battery discharge . This happens very seldom as the hydraulic valve coil can operate at as little as 7 volts , these coils are rated to 10 volts .
