On the road fuel is always a top priority. Being able to purchase at the best price and having it when you need it are two of the most important pieces of that priority. Being able to carry and store more fuel is key to any long road trip but having and storing fuel is a tricky thing. The two enemies of fuel in storage are condensation and corrosion. Excessive water in your fuel may make it worthless, while rust and corrosion form the inside of a tank will end up clogging and destroying any fuel system. Both of these enemies are contributing factors that led TITAN Fuel Tanks to the development of their products. TITAN manufactures extra-large capacity fuel tanks for diesel trucks. The tanks are made of military grade, cross-linked polymer. Although it’s more expensive than metal, the TITAN polymer has many features and attributes that make the slightly higher than metal price worth each and every penny. The polymer does not rust or corrode, which enables long term storage without fear of the tank or its’ finish breaking down. The polymer is 415 times less heat and cold conductive than aluminum, and 200 times less heat and cold conductive than steel. Such an attribute greatly minimizes condensation, thus reducing the risk of fuel being contaminated by water. Additionally, TITAN builds their tanks to be very tough and rugged; their manufacturing process means there are no welds or seams in the 46 46 NATDA Magazine Magazine NATDA tanks. The nature of the polymer, provide the tanks with built in “flex”. That “flex” works as a defense if the tank is impacted. The energy from the impact is spread over the entire structure so it flexes and bends instead of splitting and breaking as metal and linear plastic containers do. While the construction and the materials of the TITAN fuel tank ensures that your fuel remains pure and safe when it comes down to needing it. From powering vehicles, generators and equipment, to cooking and countless other necessities; therefore, having fuel and plenty of it is a necessity. Again this is where TITAN Fuel Tanks comes to the rescue. The company offers a number of different types of high capacity fuel tanks and auxiliary fuel systems. For diesel trucks they offer a number of underbody, chassis mounted tanks. Their extra-large mid-ship and after-axle tanks replace a vehicle’s stock tank and provide as much as double the capacity. This means being able to drive twice the distance of the stock truck. They also offer an ingenious auxiliary fuel storage system that fits in the spare tire well underneath the truck. This Spare Tire Auxiliary Fuel System (STAFS) adds an additional 30 gallons to whatever else the truck carries. Combining a TITAN extra-large mid-ship tank and a STAFS provides as much as 95 gallons of total fuel under the truck. www.natda.org www.natda.org
