When you meet Kara Wysocki of Wysocki , Inc ., a trailer dealership located in rural Pennsylvania , you immediately notice a very confident and composed business owner , but that ’ s just scratching the surface . Kara is an absolute powerhouse of a woman . The widowed mother of three girls speaks with the friendly ease of a natural people person who is driven by passion and purpose .
Kara began her career working in the automotive industry . She and her husband both worked for auto dealerships . After getting pregnant , Kara stayed home until her daughter turned ten months old .
“ I was tired of being at home , but I knew I didn ’ t want to get back into the car industry ,” recalled Kara . “ A local trailer dealership was hiring an office manager , so I applied . I was getting along fine in the office , and one day they were slammed . I ’ m not , and I ’ ve never been , a ‘ that ’ s not my job person .’ So , I went out and asked if I could help . I started in the parts department and made my way up to store manager . I fell in love with the industry .”
One day , Kara ’ s husband , Leonard , approached her about owning a dealership . “ He was like , ‘‘ Kara , if you ’ re going to work as hard as you do for somebody else ’ s family , why don ’ t we do something similar for our own ?”
It took about a year for Kara to warm to the idea and by July 2018 , she left her job and began working with Leonard to set up Wysocki , Inc . The couple worked nights and weekends to get the dealership going and in August of 2018 , Wysocki , Inc . took delivery of their first order of trailers .
“ Initially , it was just me and my husband , with my mother-in-law working in the office . There was no learning curve on my part . I knew what moved in the area . I knew what to stay away from . I had connections . For the first two years , it seemed like somebody would walk in every day and say , ‘ Oh , my gosh ! I finally found you . I ’ m so glad I found out where you were .”
Over the years , Wysocki , Inc . has landed customers locally and nationally . “ I ’ ve had people from all over the country buy trailers with me , “ notes Kara . “ They come from Maine , Texas , Florida … I had a guy this year flying from Alaska to take a trailer back to Anchorage .”
