Jonathan Spiller , NATDA : Your company has been shipping equipment throughout the world for over 29 years and your staff brings a deep expertise to custom-engineered manufacturing . How has that expertise translated in your trailer design ?
Byrd : While our most popular products is our enclosed , professional-grade utility trailer , all KRIN trailers have variety of standard features built to last .
It starts with the building block – a rugged , steel tube frame . Unlike many manufacturers , we have 12 ” centers , 2 ’ x 8 ” mainframes and 2 ” x 5 ” crossmembers . They are prepped with a quality primer , followed by an asphalt rustproof undercoating spray and a premium black paint . Torsion axles ( Rubber Ride axles ) are standard , which are dependable , give a quieter , smoother ride and offers better trailer rigidity to increase overall handling and control . All our enclosed trailers have G BOND galvanized steel composite panels for superior strength , marine grade plywood , and so much more .
We use premium materials and pride ourselves on excellent , quality workmanship . Our trailers are built with heavy-duty frames and are structured with tubular steel . They are designed , engineered and manufactured for longterm , heavy use .
NATDA : With such an extensive history , I ’ d imagine protecting dealers ’ territories has been important . Is there anything specific that you do , such as a MAP policy or any price guarantee ?
Byrd : We separate dealers by a 50-mile radius with limited exceptions . For those who deal with corporate fleet customers , we have a lead registration program that protects duplicate sales efforts . We don ’ t have a MAP policy , but we do have a price lock guarantee . We promise we will never raise a price if the dealer receives a written order confirmation from us within the said days of the effective quote . Once we send the dealer the relevant order confirmation , the price is locked and will never be increased .
NATDA : You ’ ve mentioned the quality of your products . However , if an issue were to occur , what should dealers know about ?
Byrd : With KRIN Custom Trailers ’ written warranties , we put our money where our mouth is . Rest assured , we stand behind the products we build . We warrant the structure and workmanship of our trailers to be free from defects for a period of three years , an 11-year warranty on the axle , a 6-year warranty from the manufacturing date on the tires , and a 1-year warranty on the electrical installation . The warranty itself is transferable and follows the trailer . Once a repair is approved , we currently have a less than two-week reimbursement policy upon receipt of said invoice .
NATDA : It will be the first time KRIN Custom Trailers will be joining us for the 2021 NATDA Trailer Show . What should dealers expect ?
Byrd : We ’ re looking forward to meeting dealers interested in qualityengineered , custom trailers as a business opportunity . We hope to build some great relationships , something especially important to all of us KRIN .
