This is a process where raw stock lumber is run through an autoclave and heated to 400 degrees in an oxygen-free vacuum environment . The process basically “ cooks ” the moisture out and shrinks other imperfections in the wood leaving a stronger product . Kind of like cooking on a stove , if you let something keep cooking it reduces and becomes concentrated , this process is basically modifying the wood to the best version of itself by removing the natural by-products that would cause it to become compromised in the first place .
After the “ cooking ” process , the boards are run through a molder then treated with a high-tech UV stain . Their goal was to specifically engineer the planks for the trailer industry .
The finished product called “ Apex ” is a board that is 30 % stronger than traditional planks , highly resistant to warping , cupping , bugs and rot . It is also extremely weather resistant and is specifically designed to withstand the harshest of conditions .
ATW is so confident in the new product they offer a one-year fade resistance warranty for dealers so the trailers will always look fresh and a three-year consumer warranty for the structural integrity of the boards .
Apex flooring is currently available on select PJ Trailers models , including their new Voyager equipment trailer and will be available on select Big Tex models later this year .
If you would like to see this product in person come visit ATW in booth 1712 at the 2024 NATDA Trailer Show in Nashville or visit them online at https :// apex . pjtrailers . com .
