INTERSTATE MANUFACTURING PLEASED WITH SNOWY GET-TOGETHER Some trailer dealerships, even after purchasing inventory from a certain manufacturer for years, never actually physically meet the sales managers that help them from year to year. For Interstate Manufacturing’s Jason Goss, that was a problem. “Personally, I feel that being able to put a face with a name builds a stronger business relationship,” Goss says. “Some factory representatives have never met the dealers with whom they’ve dealt with for years.” So, Goss decided to put together a trip for dealers, salesmen and more in the snowy woods of Michigan, as a way for a group of snowmobile and trailer enthusiasts to get together and relax. “It helps us manufacturers, hopefully, gain a little more respect for one another and realize we share common interests outside the trailer game,” says Goss. Unfortunately for Goss and the group, the original location of Grayling, Michigan proved to be a little too much. Uncooperative weather forced a change of venue to Paradise, Michigan in the upper peninsula, right on the shores of Lake Superior. “About a week before the trip, we weren’t sure if we were going to have to change it to a motorcycle ride, but I kept a close eye on the snow coverage maps and decided to drive a few more hours north,” Goss explains. For Goss, the trip’s possibilities are only bound to grow. “Well, I think with a little more advanced planning, we could really grow the event,” Goss states. “We could, possibly, correlate the ride with an existing snowmobile show or race and, perhaps, even have our latest snowmobile trailer models on display for the public to see.” While the event may increase the coming years, Goss is just as happy to know that people can take a break and enjoy themselves. “First and foremost, I hope everyone had a great time. At the same time, I hope people realized that even though we may compete against each other from eight to five, we can still enjoy each other’s company outside of work,” says Goss. Goss envisions that the trip will become an annual event but hopes the original concept of connecting those in the industry continues. Who knows? Maybe the group will finally make it to Grayling.
